When we find frigate birds, it’s a good bet you’ll be on some mahi-mahi shortly thereafter. Just ask Tim McGuire and Gang from Dickinson, Texas. They came down on a business trip and did some pretty nice fishing. We trolled fresh ballyhoos and islander lures which paid large dividends.

Look for birds and floaters and you’ll find mahi-mahi. On the reefs the kings also have started their spring migration, with 20-30 lb. fish common. Larger kings, up to fifty pounds, have been eating goggle eyes on flat lines. We have been seeing the kingfish bite between 130-140 ft. So get out on the water Spring time is here!
