Report Date: November 30, 2022

This week we hosted a family from Iowa visiting Miami for the Thanksgiving holiday. The weather was post card perfect and the seas were calm as we headed out of Haulover Inlet to the fishing grounds. In our wake was a spread of 6 lines, on the long riggers were a pair of ballyhoo with a soft head, closer were a pair of birds – also with bait, and lastly, a spoon and bonito strip on planers.

Not long after clearing the inlet we picked up a small kingfish on one of the planers. The planers would catch all the fish this day. Next, the captain maneuvered the boat over a local wreck and we had a double hook-up. But we only managed to bring in one barracuda. We worked our way north from Haulover Inlet to nearly Port Everglades. The planers delivered 3 barracuda and 4 kingfish up to 8 lbs.

The kids had a blast and especially enjoyed seeing the tarpon and pelicans back at the dock.

Tight lines and stay safe.
