Report Date: January 15, 2021

The new year kicked in and 2020 is behind us. It’s starting to even look better in 2021. The fishing has been red hot offshore doing three-quarter-day fishing trips from 8 to 2. We have been producing mahi-mahi and wahoo offshore. We have been also catching a few blackfin tuna on those overcast days.

To catch the blackfins we use a planer, with an eight hook squid rig. It is super affective and we also catch really nice mahi down deep. Speaking of mahi, using natural rigged ballyhoo is my bait of choice. We always run a nice skirt or a mold craft mini in-front of the bait. It’s really effective on keeping the baby clean and swimming correctly – always pushing off the weeds. If you notice in this sketch we did four wahoos underneath a pallet – a few nice mahi-mahi also.
